From the will and vision of an entrepreneur from Rome of Abruzzese origins, Giorgio Lanzetta, the Le Poggette Farm is born in Montecastrilli in the province of Terni. In 1965, Mr. Lanzetta acquires 15 farmhouses in Umbria with their respective land around them. It is a considerable extension that includes 450 hectares divided between vineyards, olive groves, and arable land.

The love for Abruzzo, his native land, leads him to an important decision: to produce Montepulciano in Umbria, a grape of great character that finds an excellent habitat in this area.
Towards the end of the 1970s, with the aim of producing quality red wine, he decides to plant new vineyards of Sangiovese and Canaiolo. Since then, the production approach has inevitably shifted towards the production of high-level red wines, elegant and of excellent structure.

The vineyards, spread over 20 hectares, are characterized by clayey, sandy, and calcareous soils and by a microclimate influenced by the natural conformation of the location, an amphitheater that encloses them in a sheltered basin. Furthermore, facing south and thus protected from northerly winds, they experience an early vegetative awakening of 3 weeks compared to other areas of Montecastrilli. All of this allows the grapes to express themselves in wines with unique and distinctive characteristics.
